KTTY

The year was 1984. A new television station in San Diego was on the air. I should have been hitting the math books at UC San Diego, but why wasn't I? Because this new television station was broadcasting some of the greatest classics, including one of my favorite childhood cartoons, Speed Racer — the one that I grew up with — with TRANS-LUX in the opening.

In KTTY's first year, there were obviously very few advertisers, so they needed to fill in the commercial breaks with something. This is why there were so many self-promotional spots throughout the day. This is a small collection of what I was able to scour from the archives.

And thank you for stopping by to “take a look”!

You can read more about the rise and fall of KTTY TV 69 in Wikipedia.
